Statement on Cultural Equity
To support a full creative life for all, ZiRu Wellness commits to practices of cultural equity that empower a just, inclusive, equitable nation.
ZiRu Wellness embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the development of the work we create; are included amongst the performers and choreographers we work with; are supported and nurtured as artists; and have access to arts programming, financial, and educational resources.

Modeling Through Action

Pursue cultural consciousness throughout our organization through substantive learning and formal, transparent policies.

Acknowledge and dismantle any inequities within our policies, systems, programs, and services, and report organization progress.

Commit time and resources to expand more diverse leadership within our board, staff, advisory bodies, and company members.

Support BIPOC choreographers and performers by providing funding to create new work(s) or re-stage old work(s) and presenting them with a platform to showcase their work.

Provide underserved populations with access to the performing arts through dance workshops, company mentorships, and free to low cost opportunities to view professional dance programming.

Improve cultural awareness of performing arts audiences by including and showcasing works by choreographers from all walks of life and ensuring that a wide range of performers are represented onstage.

Create art and curate live performance events that speak to the current cultural climate and address the inequality and injustice by which we are personally affected or bare witness to.

Establish cultural exchanges for both international and American artists and companies to set and/or tour their work(s), teach, and learn from artists abroad.
